Ottawa’s Wine & Food Festival 2015: Bringing The Best Of The World For You To Enjoy!

By on October 25, 2015

“The world on the tip of your tongue” is this year’s motto for Ottawa’s Wine and Food Festival. And how fitting of a saying, considering this year the festival is celebrating its 30th anniversary at the beautiful Shaw Centre.

With more than 200 exhibitors from around the world including fabulous wine labels and premium brands for everyone to enjoy, I would definitely say that this year’s event will be one for the books!

In order to commemorate their 30th anniversary, The Ottawa Wine and Food festival is turning back the clock to 1985 – the year when the festival started.  Their ‘Sunday pricing’ will permit guests to enjoy hundreds of exhibitors offering delectable food and libation samplings from exotic destinations to as close as our backyard…for only $19.85!!! Yes, you did read that right!

The best part of the event in my opinion, is that fact that guests will have the opportunity to discover flavours never savoured before and have the chance to meet and learn from the makers and people behind them.

Over the past three decades, Ottawans have developed very sophisticated tastes in food and wine, shaped in part by the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival. This 30th anniversary celebration will not only pay homage to that evolution, but will continue to challenge and educate palates by putting ‘the world on the tip of your tongue’,” says Ottawa Wine and Food Festival producer, Joan Culliton

Event Highlights

• Twelve free, live ‘edutainment’ seminars by chefs, sommeliers, craft beer experts and mixologists on the Host for the Holiday and In the Mix stages. Show goers will discover the hottest holiday food and drink trends—and have a chance to sample everything they see. Learn to brine a turkey, dazzle with décor and entertain in ten minutes from beloved pastry chef, Anna Olson and Dolce Vita’s David Rocco to Beau’s Brewery chef Bruce Wood, Twice de Spice twins, Marida and Narida and even Chef Ric and his cooks-in-training at the Ottawa Mission.

• LCBO’s ‘Taste and Discover’ one hour seminars offer everything from a Sparkling Wine Masterclass (Fabulous Fizz!!!) to a once-in-a-lifetime chance to sample six legendary and rare vintages valued at a total of $2300, including the renowned Opus One Napa 2010 and Côte-Rôtie La Mouline (Guigal) 2011.

• Haute Halloween Red Carpet Welcome for those who love the drama and glamour of Oct. 31. Visitors with ‘Arrive After 5 Haute Halloween Welcome’ tickets can dress in their most opulent, outrageous Halloween costumes (no masks or faux weapons) and walk the red carpet in front of four celebrity judges between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Friday night, I had the privilege of attending the 2024 Canadian Culinary Championships - Mystery Wine Challenge - People's Choice Award🥇🥇@greatkitchenparty
Congratulations to all the chefs involved in this intense competition. The chefs needed to create a dish to pair with the mystery wine. Each chef was given a tricky budget of $550 for the 250 guests. I was witnessing creativity at its best!!😋
The winning dish🥇 (centered in the middle of the photo) was created by JP Dublado: Red Deer Resort and Casino, Red Deer AB
Dish: beet & soy cured albacore tuna - ponzu gel - tomato water - puffed wild rice - beet green oil
Amazing talent from all the chefs as they paired with the mystery wine (a 2021 Lailey Vineyard Zweigelt)🍷🍷

Where's my rubber ducky 🐤😉?!
A year ago this week, I was enjoying some bath time while in @discoverdominica 🏖🏝😍
Dominica's lush scenery is extraordinary, and I'm grateful to have been invited to visit their beautiful island😊😊
Visiting Wotten Waven Sulphur Springs was perfect to relax and rid of some unwanted stress. And the outdoor bath surrounded by all that green landscape was simply the BEST! An unforgettable experience! 🤩
Dominica's adventure activities - diving, snorkeling, hiking, kayaking, swimming - are just some of the many ways to enjoy this tropical island.🤿🙂
Put Dominica on your travel list. You'll love it!!❤️❤️
