Picture this…Veuve Cliquot Champagne, soft petal roses, lush green gardens, an elegant four-course dinner and the piece de resistance…a private dome under the night sky. Talk about a romantic setting! This is Soireé in a nutshell!

Ottawa is really stepping up its ‘gourmand’ experience as it will be introducing something that has only been offered in Europe thus far. A few years back, the English restaurant Coppa Club hosted a beautiful dinner affair in an igloo-style venue. Imagine how luxurious it must have been for guests to have had dinner in their elegantly decorated personal dome, eating and drinking some bubbles as they gazed out unto the Thames River.

Now it’s time for Ottawa to be part of that exclusive and distinguished group and take the lead on the North American edition. This is the magical recipe that Dinner4Four Co. intends to create. Soirée will be a luxurious sensory experience that Ottawa foodies will mark in their calendars as a ‘must do’ event.

Dinner4Four Co. business manager, Marcel Williams, was enthusiastic to inform me that Ottawa’s weather protected garden domes will be transformed into exquisite lush garden utopias while showcasing elegance and chic. The concept is to enjoy the view of the infamous Rideau Canal with the Parliament Hill as the backdrop even if the weather is less than favourable.

 

Now the Food

I am pleased to say that this chic dinner will be created by one of Ottawa’s top chefs, Michael Blackie from NeXt. I have had the pleasure of enjoying Chef Blackie’s creativity on many occasions. And, Chef Blackie defines the term ‘thinking outside the box’ in regards to staying relevant and imaginative all the while keeping his guests satisfied and yearning for more with delicious and ever-so-elegant plates.

Important Info

What: An elegant 4-course meal paired with wine & champagne (additional) served under the shelter of 10 weather protective Garden Domes.

When: April 29th to May 28th, 2018. The event offers 3 seatings daily – 5 pm, 7 pm & 9 pm. A dome will hold up to 5 guests. Subscribers will be given the first opportunity to pick a timeslot for their dinner when Presale Tickets go on sale January 7th.

Where: Terrace on the Canal / 191 Colonel By Drive

TicketsTickets for the public go on sale February 17th at 11 am. There is a $55* fee ($110 w/o discount code) to reserve a Garden Dome. A discount code can be obtained by subscribing to the event’s email list.

Important to note: Once your reservation is complete, you will be sent a menu link so that you and your guests can pre-purchase dinner (vegan and gluten-free options are available on the menu; it will also be nut free) along with your drink of choice (Champagne, wine and/or beer). Dinner is sold separately costing $88.35 each. You will need a minimum of 4 guests to complete your reservation, but you can invite up to 5 people total.

Friday night, I had the privilege of attending the 2024 Canadian Culinary Championships - Mystery Wine Challenge - People's Choice Award🥇🥇@greatkitchenparty

Congratulations to all the chefs involved in this intense competition. The chefs needed to create a dish to pair with the mystery wine. Each chef was given a tricky budget of $550 for the 250 guests. I was witnessing creativity at its best!!😋
