Imagine plush furniture, crystal chandeliers, men donned in their Film Noir detective garments and the women…Oh, how the women oozed every bit of their inner Femme Fatale that all us women possess. Those elements woven together with spectacular entertainment and seductive culinary temptations were all part of the Snowsuit Fund’s lavish Bash Noir event!This year’s event took place at Lansdowne Park’s new Horticulture building and what a transformation it was. TC& Co. Event Design designer and co-owner, Tami Varma didn’t hold back when it came to vision, creativity and fantasy for the Neo-Noir affair. The transformation of the historic Horticulture building was unprecedented!
Glamour décor before the event commences
One could not look around and not be mesmerized by all the intricate details that took place in planning this affair. There was a ‘station’ for everything: for your chocolate indulgences there was Lindt Chocolate and to spellbind your partner there was a fragrance centre. For the ladies who wanted to look their best, Nordstrom was there for lipstick touch-ups…like I said every detail was thought of.
Oh, we can’t forget about my Bubbles…The Champagne station was a hit as it had a beautiful model whose skirt was designed to hold several Champagne flutes- sheer genius!

Entertainment value was off the charts as there were plenty to enjoy. Live singers included the seductive voices of Maddy Sleigh and Chrissy Spratt to Dj’s spinning the latest heart pounding hits to get the crowd on their feet dancing. And if that wasn’t enough, a very captivating Cirque du Soleil-like entertainer grabbed everyone’s attention and with good reason – the lights that reflected off the ‘riding of the bird’ act and the sheer movement that went with the act was fascinating.

I was very fortunate to have Ace Mercado’s Chef de Cuisine Trisha Donaldson give me access to her working area as she assembled the gorgeous ensemble of tempting nibbles that had everyone wanting more!
Not only did Chef Donaldson run with the Femme Fatal motif but she won the race! She captured the seductive spirit of the evening as she transformed her appetizers to look like pieces of art involving all of our senses! Flowers, fragrances, multitude of textures and flavors were all ever so present with each creation.
An assortments of tempting treats: in-house smoked salmon with cucumber ribbons, chorizo sausage with sweet drop peppers; in-house cured duck breast, cucumber ribbons, sabayon, lemon preserve and sweet drop peppers
Edible Lipstick: red rose, passion fruit and vanilla beans
Chocolate Cigars: tuiles with hazelnut dipped in chocolate ganache with a sweet red pepper ash.
Lies and deceit: frozen goat cheese bottom with raspberry filling, coated with candied pistachios…finished with a lavender mist.
Hypnosis: a mystery veiled truffle with a hazelnut ganache
Bash Noir was truly a spectacular event and my feet can attest to it…oh, how the evening got danced away and then some! What made it an even better evening was knowing that it was supporting such a great cause.

The evening was magical.
I can’t even begin to think how they will outdo this year’s event, but one nothing is certain – if it’s anything like this one, it’ll be spectacular!!!

Last evening, generous restaurants like @faunaottawa opened their doors to patrons who dined and donated to support people living with HIV in our communities.
What more could you ask for?! Stellar dishes while supporting a great cause!!☺️
Fresh meaty Malpeque oysters 🦪🦪 and tasty tempura mushrooms 🍄 as appetizers to a mouth-watering meat fest. Say hello to a 80 day dry aged ribeye for 2 and the tastiest duck breast I`ve ever had!!😲😋😋😍
Because those dishes weren`t indulgent enough, a basque style cheesecake had to be tasted!!😂😋

Several evenings ago, I had the pleasure of being invited to the Embassy of the Czech Republic😍
Learning about their culture, their unique travel experiences, and surprisingly, how inexpensive this country is, when compared to other European destinations, is always good💰💰
To start the Czech Tourism event, guests had the pleasure to hear from Czech Republic Ambassador of Canada, Martin Tlapa.
Tasty libations and Czech dishes were enjoyed by the guests. Even though I enjoy my 🍾 bubbles, I enjoyed tasting Czech`s prized beer 😉🍻

I had the pleasure of experiencing @kathaottawa with their exclusive 8 course tasting menu of progressive Indian cuisine. What a treat!😍😋

Kathā means story in Sanskrit, and with each course, a story about the dish was shared with the guests. This interactive approach provided a cultural and personal background for each dish.

Everything from the scallop ceviche, the cod with chili and coriander oil to the delicious lamb chop and duck - all made for a unique cultural dining experience. 😋😋

Friday night, I had the privilege of attending the 2024 Canadian Culinary Championships - Mystery Wine Challenge - People`s Choice Award🥇🥇@greatkitchenparty

Congratulations to all the chefs involved in this intense competition. The chefs needed to create a dish to pair with the mystery wine. Each chef was given a tricky budget of $550 for the 250 guests. I was witnessing creativity at its best!!😋

A classic is always a classic!🤩

@alssteakhouse has been serving food lovers steak, seafood, and tantalizing martinis since 1967!!! Just incredible! 🥩🍤🍸
.
As an appetizer, I must say their calamari was outstanding, and believe it or not, their portion was unlike any other eatery - there was so much!! 😮
.
And now, for the main attraction - their 14oz Rib-eye steak. The flavour of this steak was a melt-in-your-mouth gift! I couldn`t stop eating it. I forgot how delicious their steaks are. With their sides and salad with their signature garlic dressing, it was a real feast, to say the least.😋

I`m already looking forward to my next visit...like I said, when a classic is this tasty, any excuse to visit is a good one‼️

Breathtaking panoramic views from Shirley Heights, a restored military lookout, and gun battery was such a visual treat!😍

Afterward, a tasty seafood lunch at the Mainbrace restaurant, located at the @copperandlumberstorehotelanu was needed. We are talking about delicious conch fritters, spicy shrimp and avocado sushi stack, and Mahi Mahi trio seafood salad - YUMMY!! 😋😋

And if that wasn`t enough, the view of the mind-blowing luxury yachts in front of us as we dined was simply perfect!🛳🛥🤩

Natural blowholes around the arch shoot up water and spray, caused by the Atlantic Ocean waves. Simply beautiful and capitavating and yet dangerous if too close to the blowholes.😲😍

Eat N Lime`s motto resonates with me so much...`We are hanging out and chilling, enjoying eachothers company with good food` - This is my happy place!😍😋

The delicious food tour started in Saint John, the capital of Antigua and Barbuda, at the Heritage Quay Complex, where one can easily see all the cruise ships coming in and offloading their passengers.
.
I had the pleasure of tasting these local treats during the food tour:
1) Island Bhive: shrimp fritters with garlic sauce - so delicious 😋 🦐
2) Quin Farara Liquor Store: Rum tasting and learning how to make an Antiguan Old Fashioned cocktail with their 5-year-old English Harbour Rum.🍹
3) Roti King: a very generous roti that was packed with flavour: chickpea bread, potatoes, chicken, Indian curry, turmeric, and ginger.
4) Brownies Bakery: well-known for its unique bread offerings. Fun fact: it`s also a well-known hangover dish.🍞😉Tracey Ann, our informative and engaging Eat n Lime Food Tours guide, showed us Brownies Bakery`s famous bread - cinnamon butter and cheese.
5) Patti Delight: Jamaican patties with a twist. Jamaican beef patty with bacon, cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce. More please!!😋😋
6) To wash down all this delicious food, we stopped at One Stone Ital Shack - a Jamaican rasta shop known for their fresh fruit juices. Passion fruit for the win!! Tasted amazing and truth be told, I mixed my leftover juice with some local Rum as my afternoon cocktail.🍹😉

I highly recommend taking part in food tours when discovering new destinations as you not only learn about the culture but also learn how food plays an integral role in the history of the specific region. Eat N Lime`s food tour was exceptional - great memories from this excursion. 😍🤗

No trip would be complete without a delicious food tour😋😍

I had the pleasure of taking part in @tours_de_la_table
guided walking tour - exploring Montréal`s Chinatown. Engaging host, interesting cultural facts, and my favourite, tasty dishes made for a great afternoon.😋😍
.
Having a very engaging and informative guide is key to any successful tour, and Mélissa Simard, founder of Round Table Tours/Tours De La Table nailed it. Melissa has a wealth of knowledge regarding both Canadian and Chinese history and its connection to Montreal.
.
During the tour, I learned that the Chinese Holiday Inn, the only Chinese Holiday Inn in Canada other than China, all the rooms and decor in the hotel are done in respect to the Feng Shui practice. Additionally, I also learned, amongst many other interesting facts regarding Montreal and its beloved Chinatown, that 50% of businesses in Montréal`s Chinatown are Vietnamese owned.

Now to the food😋😋
● The classic Vietnamese dish, Bánh mi (Vietnamese sandwich), was perfect to start off this yummy culinary tour!🥖😋
● @dobeandandy restaurant: BBQ pork, BBQ duck, chicken, and crispy pork. 😍YES!!!
● @chezchili_mtl: Traditional Hunan and Sichuan dishes are their specialty. I devoured their tofu with spicy blackbean sauce!! AND their spicy lotus was amazing! I was pleasantly surprised as to how much I enjoyed this dish! 😍 Plus, their stir-fried Cumin lamb...I could have eaten all of it!!!😋😍
● Kim Fung eatery: dim sum dishes of rice noodles, dumplings, cuttlefish, and Shumai (Chinese dumplings). 🥟🥟
● For drssert: Dragons beard candy dessert: Similar to cotton candy, but with some saltiness from peanuts and sweetness from coconut...super tasty!😍
