Dress up for a good cause loft gala.

The Loft Gala: Dressing Up For A Great Cause!

By on April 18, 2016

Fashionistas, art lovers and foodies have been waiting all year to be part of the prestigious Loft Gala. Celebrating their 2nd anniversary, The Loft Gala, hosted at The Hilton Lac Leamy, celebrates fashion, art, culture and live music…and, we can’t leave out the amazing culinary creations that will be showcased at the event.

In partnership with the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, The Loft Gala ‘brings together notable figures and leaders from all spectrums of the community and provides an exclusive opportunity for networking, socializing and cross-industry exposure in luxurious surroundings’.

All proceeds from this glamourous and captivating event will be going to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, an essential Canadian organization dedicated to cancer survivorship and cancer coaching in Eastern Ontario.

I asked Bruno Racine, CEO of The Loft Gala, why this event is so important to him and his reasons to be so involved. Racine explained that his main focus is to help cancer patients, “specifically cancer coaching and clinical trials which is not covered by our health system but yet has tremendous success when chemo nor radiation is an option. I’ve seen many patients who were given a few months to live and with clinical trials they are still alive after a few years, with a good quality of life. That’s why I’m doing this and that’s why Ottawa is so supportive of what I do”.

What better way to raise funds than gathering people from all industries at a classy and extremely entertaining soirée over a 4 course meal paired & prepared by Hilton’s Executive Chef Denis Girard.
Racine also wanted to place emphasis on the importance of the event as “it brings together leaders of many different industries such as entertainment, beauty, fashion, political, financial, sport, legal, food & beverage, high-tech, diplomatic and socialites and many more…what a great networking opportunity for everyone! It’s a win-win for all”. And I couldn’t agree more!

This year, The Loft Gala will be transporting us back in time as we will be mesmerized with the glitz and glamour of the big band era. Performances by a live 18-piece big band orchestra and the enchanting vocals of Juno Award winning Jazz artist Sophie Milman will no doubt set the tone to this incredible evening.

What to expect at this year’s Loft Gala:

• International designer Eyal Zimerman, Designer from Tel Aviv, Israel will be presenting his haute couture collection;
• Performances by: Sophie Milman and Yaa-Hemaa and The Stan Clark Orchestra;
• Exceptional 4 course dinner prepared by award-winning Hilton Lac Leamy Executive Chef Denis Girard.
• Silent and live auction of exceptional items

A couple of evenings ago, I had the pleasure and honour of being invited by my alma mater, @lecordonbleuottawa to witness Chef @antonyannick70 be awarded France's L'Ordre du mérite agricole, the highest civilian honour from the embassy @franceaucanada 😃

This distinction recognizes the contributions of Chef Yannick to promote French culture in Canada and Ottawa specifically - through his work as a chef and instructor at Le Cordon Bleu Institute in Ottawa.

Special moments of the evening included Ambassador of France to Canada, Michel Miraillet sharing with guests the numerous accomplishments that Chef Yannick Anton has accomplished over the years. Simply remarkable!!👏👏
A very touching and inspiring moment came when Chef Yannick Anton gave praise and gratitude to his mentors, who helped him attain his dream in the culinary industry. He also reminded the graduating class of chefs to always have a vision and to never let it go.👨‍🍳👩🏼‍🍳😍

And it wouldn't be a celebration without some tasty treats that exude French flare! They even had chocolate graduation hats - very cute and apropo 🎓🎓

Bravo Chef!!😊
Muy Caliente!!🔥🔥🌞🌞

Friday night, I had the privilege of attending the 2024 Canadian Culinary Championships - Mystery Wine Challenge - People's Choice Award🥇🥇@greatkitchenparty

Congratulations to all the chefs involved in this intense competition. The chefs needed to create a dish to pair with the mystery wine. Each chef was given a tricky budget of $550 for the 250 guests. I was witnessing creativity at its best!!😋
.
The winning dish🥇 (centered in the middle of the photo) was created by JP Dublado: Red Deer Resort and Casino, Red Deer AB
Dish: beet & soy cured albacore tuna - ponzu gel - tomato water - puffed wild rice - beet green oil
.
Amazing talent from all the chefs as they paired with the mystery wine (a 2021 Lailey Vineyard Zweigelt)🍷🍷
