Joey Restaurant Ottawa Lansdowne

JOEY Restaurant is Lansdowne’s Culinary Gem

By on June 1, 2015

Ottawa’s Lansdowne area has gone through major additions and a huge undertaking: upgrading an revamping the Lansdowne area – something that Ottawa has been waiting for several years now.  With the addition of numerous stores, select services like the VIP theatre and a handful of eateries to choose from, the Lansdowne area is starting to be the new ‘it’ area for people to discover. One of those new eateries is JOEY Lansdowne. It has quickly become Lansdowne’s culinary gem!

The JOEY chain is unlike any chain eatery that I have experienced before. Today there are JOEY restaurants in four Canadian provinces and in the Washington state. JOEY’s recipe for success, is very straightforward: “It’s not a matter of repeating formulas and stereotypes, but of creating spaces perfectly suited to the locale and the customer profile”…something that many eateries fall short on.

Joey Restaurant Ottawa

We travel the world to discover bold flavors, then turn them into signature recipes. Our people are masters of their craft, committed to creating a memorable experience for every guest.  We live by a simple credo: “Get it right the first time.”

I have had the pleasure of eating at JOEY’s on numerous occasions and each and every time they demonstrated a high caliber of food and hospitality.

Just some of my favorites and there are many…

Calamari Fritti Ocean Wise tempura vegetables, spicy aioli

Sashimi Tuna: seared rare Ahi, mango, peanuts, avocado, crispy noodles with a wonderful cilantro ginger dressing

Steak Frites: CAB® PRIME sirloin, parsley butter, rocket greens served with their unique mashed potato spring rolls!

Last week JOEY opened their zen-like patio to many happy patrons waiting to celebrate the opening. Patrons who wanted to take in the beautiful outdoor weather while savoring delicious food and discovering new libations!

Being a guest at their patio kickoff party, the food that they showcased were both appetizing and in some cases highly addictive. They have the ‘addiction’ recipe nailed: Tease the customers with amazing aromas and flavours and they’ll just keep coming back! Sounds like the perfect recipe to me!

JOEY’s Slider’s Royal- highly addictive!

Homemade ice cream being made at JOEY’s patio kick-off party

Tandoori Chicken Flatbread Ocean Wise chutney, red onion, cilantro, yogurt

Elderflower Collins: gin, elderflower, fresh squeezed grapefruit adorned with a watermelon radish

JOEY has definitely made its mark in the Ottawa food scene in the very short time that they have been opened. Guests will enjoy the restaurant’s ambiance, be it that you are there to enjoy a game in the bar area or celebrating a special occasion in the lounge.

JOEY has what it takes to make your experience a memorable and worthwhile one.

The perfect marriage - garlic escargots and @moetchandon Ice Imperial Champagne 🍾 🥂😍😍

If you haven't had the pleasure of tasting this incredibly refreshing Champagne, then I'd suggest you do it and do it now!! You'll thank me for it😉😋

What is unique about this Champagne is the fact that it was created to be served over ice, hence its name - Ice Imperial. It is the perfect accompaniment to any dish or simply alone...sheer perfection!!

Here's to more 'occasions' or 'simply because' 😉

Cheers🥂

A couple of evenings ago, I had the pleasure and honour of being invited by my alma mater, @lecordonbleuottawa to witness Chef @antonyannick70 be awarded France's L'Ordre du mérite agricole, the highest civilian honour from the embassy @franceaucanada 😃

This distinction recognizes the contributions of Chef Yannick to promote French culture in Canada and Ottawa specifically - through his work as a chef and instructor at Le Cordon Bleu Institute in Ottawa.

Special moments of the evening included Ambassador of France to Canada, Michel Miraillet sharing with guests the numerous accomplishments that Chef Yannick Anton has accomplished over the years. Simply remarkable!!👏👏
A very touching and inspiring moment came when Chef Yannick Anton gave praise and gratitude to his mentors, who helped him attain his dream in the culinary industry. He also reminded the graduating class of chefs to always have a vision and to never let it go.👨‍🍳👩🏼‍🍳😍

And it wouldn't be a celebration without some tasty treats that exude French flare! They even had chocolate graduation hats - very cute and apropo 🎓🎓

Bravo Chef!!😊
