Food Day Canada 2014

By on July 28, 2014

The count down is on…Saturday August 2nd is Food Day Canada!

As you may remember, last year was my first year partaking in the celebration of what Food Day Canada stands for: all things CANADIAN!!!

Food Day Canada is a chance for all Canadians to join hands in one massive celebration in praise of our farmers and fishers; our chefs and researchers…and, above all, our home cooks.

Get Involved!  You can head to one of our enthusiastic Food Day Canada restaurants ( to enjoy an unequalled repast or you can plan your own party!

Absolutely Anywhere!   Paddle to a distant shore to light a campfire…barbecue some fish …sweep off the deck for a neighbourhood supper….dig a roasting pit….build an oven … fire up the grill…and use only Canadian ingredients to create a feast or a simple dinner that honours our extraordinary culinary history and points the way to the future, together.

Food Day Canada is the time and place for Canadians to share their food and their stories with each other while leading other nations in cultural diversity, food ethics, magnificent flavours … and fun!  We know how to throw a great party, so LET’S SHOW THE WORLD!

And never, ever be afraid to haul out your soapbox to tell retailers to provide more Canadian ingredients, with hopefully less packaging, so you can eat this way all year round!

I encourage and invite you all to take part in this amazing tradition to celebrate what this beautiful country has to offer. I will definitely be enjoying a Canadian feast – whether it be homemade or one created by a chef & restaurant who will be taking part in the Food Day Canada festivities.

The official Food Day Canada site is encouraging everyone to join in and share your experiences be it on Facebook at: Food Day Canada event  or on twitter at: @fooddaycanada or use one of the official hashtags to share your Food Day Canada plans: #FDC2014 #FoodDayCanada or #Aug2. I will be posting my Food Day experiences on twitter at: @thefoodtease.

Can’t wait to be part of this great Canadian tradition!

The stunningly beautiful Trafalgar Falls, located in the Trois Piton National Park!!😍😍

These famous twin waterfalls are a 20-minute drive from Dominica's capital, Roseau. It's a short 10 to 15 minute walk along a well-maintained path to the viewing platform, where you can photograph both falls.

Fun fact: The smaller waterfall has cool refreshing water, whereas the tall one is a hot spring.💧🔥

Dominica's natural beauty is endless!!😍
After some incredible snorkeling in Toucari Bay with @wanderlustcaribbean we needed some well deserved substance to refuel our bodies! 🤿🐟🐠🏝
The Keep'in It Real restaurant was the ideal eatery for some tasty snapper 🐟 with all its delicious trimmings (local greens, fried plantains, fritters with some rice and beans).
To wash it all down, some local Rum with passion fruit juice 😋 🍹
This is what experiencing a new destination should be like...amazing adventures, delicious food and connecting with like-minded enthusiasts!!😍🤗
