Montreal's Epic Chef Dinner: Raising Funds For The Mile End Community Mission

Montreal’s Epic Chef Dinner: Raising Funds For The Mile End Community Mission

By on July 17, 2015

Let me take you to another time…
Where sparkling wine flows like a waterfall, oysters being shucked as music notes dance in your head as you enjoy the live entertainment. All this and you haven’t had the main course yet…A collaboration of some of the best chefs in Montreal.
That time is soon and it can be yours!

Marc Cohen, chef/owner of Lawrence is the brain child and principal organizer for this amazing charity affair. The Lawrence restaurant cooks for the Mile End Community Mission once a month (the last Monday of every month) and Cohen thought that it would be a great opportunity to do something on a grand scale to help raise funds for the Mission. So, he asked his restaurant and chef contacts if they would participate and join forces in this epic charity dinner so that we (the food loving public) can help in the cause and indulge and be spoiled with the culinary creations that this collaboration will put forth before us!
Mile End Community Mission is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization and community centre working with members of the community who have been marginalized by society for a variety of reasons.  This year alone, the Mission expects to serve 12,000 meals, fill 10,000 grocery bags and provide countless essential services to its growing membership. Not just a soup kitchen, the Mission provides structure, purpose and meaning for its chronically poor, socially excluded and disadvantaged members. The Mile-End Community Mission is a community hub that allows members to connect and support one another.
Hailed the ‘Mission Possible’ event, this fundraiser is setting the bar pretty high in regards to it’s collaborative contacts as well as its ambiance. The beautiful Rialto Theatre is literally setting the stage for this epic dinner.

The beautiful Rialto Theatre

Like I said earlier, the evening will begin with Choice Harbour shucking oysters and live music by Barr Brothers. A sit down dinner will follow with contributions from some of Montreal’s finest including: Joe Beef, Hotel Herman, Lawrence, Ice House, Nora Gray, Hof Kelsten, Danny St Pierre, Pâtisserie Rhubarbe, Les Chocolats de Chloe and Café Myriade.

Bubbles, wine pairings and beer come courtesy of RéZin Sélection, Ward & associés, Oenopole, Glou, Primavin and Ghost Farm.

What an exclusive evening this will be! For these types of charity events, everyone comes out smiling, especially since it supports a special organization.

Date and Time: Monday, September 21st, commencing at 6pm

Where: The Rialto Theatre, 5723 Avenue du Parc, Montréal

Tickets: $325 with a tax receipt for $225 will be available. Tickets are available for purchase at The Mile End Mission. For those that would like to purchase 10 tickets or more, please email Marc Cohen directly at: [email protected]

See you there!

A couple of evenings ago, I had the pleasure and honour of being invited by my alma mater, @lecordonbleuottawa to witness Chef @antonyannick70 be awarded France's L'Ordre du mérite agricole, the highest civilian honour from the embassy @franceaucanada 😃

This distinction recognizes the contributions of Chef Yannick to promote French culture in Canada and Ottawa specifically - through his work as a chef and instructor at Le Cordon Bleu Institute in Ottawa.

Special moments of the evening included Ambassador of France to Canada, Michel Miraillet sharing with guests the numerous accomplishments that Chef Yannick Anton has accomplished over the years. Simply remarkable!!👏👏
A very touching and inspiring moment came when Chef Yannick Anton gave praise and gratitude to his mentors, who helped him attain his dream in the culinary industry. He also reminded the graduating class of chefs to always have a vision and to never let it go.👨‍🍳👩🏼‍🍳😍

And it wouldn't be a celebration without some tasty treats that exude French flare! They even had chocolate graduation hats - very cute and apropo 🎓🎓

Bravo Chef!!😊
Muy Caliente!!🔥🔥🌞🌞
