Canadian Eats: Exploring Canadian Foods in the Glebe

Canadian Eats is an event in which local restaurants, bakeries and food shops showcase Canada’s culinary scene for its 150^th anniversary.

Supporting local initiatives is something that is very important to me, especially when great tasting cuisine is at the forefront.

Restaurants in the Glebe will be putting Canada on a plate during Canadian Eats, an exciting new signature event aimed at capturing the spirit of Canadian cuisine. Canadian Eats will be running until Canada Day, which is plenty of time to take the opportunity to taste a range of dishes inspired by Canada.

Andrew Peck, Executive Director of the Glebe Business Improvement Area is proud to be supporting this new initiative as the Glebe area has a plethora of noteworthy restaurants and food providers that deserve to be recognized.

The mission for Canadian Eats: provide customers with dishes that are influenced by the Canadian spirit and to put Canada on a plate!

The menu will feature food and drink that embodies the Canadian experience and provides insight into how ingredients and life in our country has helped shape what we create, consume and savour. Food fans will discover the classics we all love, while seeing how our regions, diversity, history, and ingredients have lent themselves to new variations on the recipes we’ve come to appreciate from other places.

The CANADIAN EATS menu will offer a wide range of delicious options and price points, creating an inclusive selection of fare for everyone. Glebe grocers, cafés, bakeries, food shops and the Ottawa Farmer’s Market will also be part of the picnic in their own way.

The many dishes, stories, recipes, and promotions will be shared online (www.canadianeats.ca) throughout the initiative with the hope of generating even more conversation around what makes our food Canadian. The Glebe BIA aims to develop CANADIAN EATS into an annual event that continues to further our understanding of what our national cuisine is all about.
