We’ve all been there…we have all experienced the sensory overload sensation we get when we walk into a movie theatre and before we know it, our nose is guiding us like a seeing eye dog to the closest concession stand that holds the holy grail of snacks…POPCORN!!!
The popcorn concession stand is a wonderment in itself to our senses. The sense of smell is the first sense to be seduce by mother nature’s treat. It is that very smell that makes people eat this devilish snack in abundance, even though they just said they were full (been there, done that a million times over). Sight is the second sense to be enticed. Seeing kernels dancing in the air as they explode and transform themselves into beautiful corn blossoms is a sight that I still marvel at. Now you know what sense is the mother of all senses when it comes to eating popcorn…taste. Traditionally speaking when we think of popcorn, we think of light as air corn clouds graced with salt and liquid gold being applied ever so generously (for those of you who are not aware of my penchant for butter, I refer to this man made miracle as liquid gold). At the every moment when our tongue touches the the fluffy texture and our tastes buds realize what we are eating, an electrical storm of synapses commence in our brain…It’s complete euphoria! Fingers and hands become the vehicles to which sustain our hunger for this highly addictive snack that we consume and rapture in delight! Ah, the gratification that these small corn blossoms bring us is one of pure indulgence and I for one love it!
I like to consider myself as somewhat of a popcorn aficionado, seeing that I have literally traveled far and wide for certain popcorn companies that were not accessible in Canada. That being said, I want to share with you a company to which I have become weak in the knees for. If you haven’t already had the pleasure of trying their varied popcorn products, then please let me introduce to you Popcorn Indiana.
Popcorn Indiana prides itself as being a company that cares about what we snack on. Their varied products are a proof of their belief system: healthy eating.
We are wildly fanatical about healthier, whole grain snacking. Our mission is to make the best tasting better-for-you snacks on the planet. We have our own facility, filled with honest-to-goodness corn that is specifically grown for popping. We have special kettles that are filled, by hand, one scoop at a time, by real people, who are carefully producing, oh-so-lovingly, the greatest popcorn you’ve ever had. That sentence had a lot of commas, so you know we’re serious. We have popcorn chefs who do nothing but dream up fantastic flavor combinations. What a gig! We live and breathe whole grain snacking!
Popcorn Indiana has even started their own fit popcorn line to which I am proud to say are non-GMO project verified. “FIT is ideal for those who are looking to snack smarter (not just skinnier) and don’t want to sacrifice on flavor”.
Having been spoiled with the varied products that were sent to me, some more health conscience minded than others. I can honestly say without any hesitation that the one product/flavor that had me wanting more and more was their Movie Theater Popcorn. First off, I have never seen packaging like this before. Now hear me out, I know some of you are probably wondering what does packaging have to do with eating popcorn? But packaging has EVERYTHING to do with this particular flavor. Popcorn Indiana has managed unlike any other company I know, to create a bag that will allow you to reheat its already popped popcorn in the microwave!!! Can you believe that?!
Just humor me and reread what I just wrote. A microwave safe bag that already contains kettle popped corn can now be placed in the microwave for a few seconds to give you the sensation that you are at the theaters enjoying freshly popped popcorn! But it doesn’t end there, let’s not forget my ‘joie de vivre’…butter! The real butter taste is so apparent and ever so flavorful since its real butter being used and none of that artificial butter flavoring that many popcorn companies use. I’ll be honest, I inhaled that bag as though it was my last meal – seriously! I don’t remember the last time I enjoyed a popcorn flavor this much.
Well foodies, I’m not sure what you are doing right now, but I for one am enjoying my bag of Popcorn Indiana.
My apologies if there are some spelling mistakes…I was too busy licking my fingers 😉
